Suspect Detained in Kozanköy Over Cat Shooting Case

A suspect has been detained in the village of Kozanköy in connection with the brutal killing of cats. According to the investigation, the animals were shot, allegedly with a hunting or air gun.

Volunteer and Animal Rights Association member Cemaliye İnan said that police are continuing the investigation and have not yet disclosed details of the case. According to her, law enforcement officers assured animal rights activists that they would take all necessary measures.

İnan reminded that following changes in the law, killing animals is a criminal offense and can be punishable by up to six years in prison. She called for the strictest possible sanctions for the perpetrator so that such incidents do not happen again.

Residents of the village said that an autopsy of the dead cat has already been carried out. According to its results, two bullets were found in the animal’s skull. They said that the suspect has been detained and legal proceedings have begun.
