Man detained in Lefkoşa on suspicion of death threats and assaulting his wife
A man appeared in court in Lefkoşa on charges of threatening to kill, seriously assaulting and making telephone threats against his wife. The court ordered that he be kept in police custody for three days.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 03:30 on 26 July. The suspect, A.N., called his wife and threatened to kill her and members of her family if she did not leave the house.
The man then allegedly assaulted his wife because she did not comply with his demand.
Following the complaint, the suspect was detained. The injured woman was taken to the emergency department, where she was examined by doctors and a medical report was prepared.
At the hearing, police officer Zalihe Karagil stated that the investigation was ongoing and requested that the suspect remain in custody to carry out the necessary investigative procedures.
Judge Tutku Candaş ordered that A.N. remain in police custody for three days.
