More than 3 kg of drugs seized in Lefkosha during anti-drug operation
Police in Lefkosha carried out “Typhoon” operation, during which more than 3 kilograms of marijuana were found in the possession of a 26-year-old Pakistani national.
According to police, the suspect was stopped in the Ortahisar area. Seeing the officers, he tried to escape but was detained.
No prohibited substances were found during the inspection of the vehicle. However, during a subsequent search of the man’s home, vacuum-sealed bags containing a substance believed to be cannabis, with a total weight of approximately 3 kg 100 grams, were found in the bedroom.
The detainee confessed and stated that he had received the drugs from another person. He also reported a previous transfer of a small quantity of marijuana in Lefkosha.
Police are continuing their investigation: possible accomplices are being identified, surveillance camera footage is being reviewed, and the seized substances are undergoing examination.
The Lefkosha Court ordered that the suspect remain in custody for 6 days.
