Agreements Signed to Strengthen Cooperation Between Turkey and the TRNC

A series of agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) have been signed.

Among these, the key agreements include the “Protocol on Establishing the TRNC National Geographic Data Infrastructure,” the “Ministerial Declaration on Environment and Urbanization,” and the “Land Cadastre Action Plan for 2024-2025.”

The agreements were signed by Turkey's Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, TRNC’s Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, and TRNC’s Minister of the Interior, Dursun Oğuz.

The signing ceremony, held at the Concorde Hotel in Nicosia, was also attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim.

TRNC’s Minister of Tourism, Fikri Ataoğlu, stated that these agreements will further cooperation for the country's future, laying the groundwork for significant projects across the island.

During the event, Turkish Minister Murat Kurum conveyed warm regards from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the Turkish Cypriots.

Kurum also highlighted that the construction of the Presidential Residence and the Parliament Building will be completed by the new year, while the National Garden and mosque will be ready by June 2025. Moreover, work has commenced on the new High Court and library in the TRNC. The tender for the construction will be finalized in November, with the actual building work scheduled to begin in December.
