TRNC Agriculture Ministry to begin assessing storm damage in Güneşköy and Aydınköy
TRNC Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş visited the villages of Güneşköy (Güneşköy) and Aydınköy (Aydınköy), which were hit by strong winds and torrential rain on 29 August, and inspected the damaged agricultural land. Following the visit, an assessment of the damage will begin in the area.

At the scene, the minister met with residents and producers, listened to their complaints and requests, and discussed what exactly had been damaged by the bad weather and what steps could be taken next.
Çavuş said that staff from Agricultural Insurance (Tarım Sigortası), the Livestock Department and other relevant divisions of the ministry would visit the fields. They will record the losses at the sites and consolidate them into an overall assessment, after which the ministry will determine what measures producers need.
“Protecting the work of our producers and resolving emerging problems quickly and effectively is one of our main responsibilities. We are assessing the consequences on the ground and hearing requests directly from the farmers themselves,” the minister said.
The storm on 29 August was one of the strongest in recent years: the meteorological service recorded a wind gust of 182 km/h in Gemikonağı — a record for Northern Cyprus. Güneşköy and Aydınköy are located in the Güzelyurt district, which was also left without electricity for several hours that day.
