Health Ministry Denies Reports of Meningitis Case in Prison
The TRNC Ministry of Health said that reports appearing in a number of media outlets about a case of meningitis in a prison were untrue.
The ministry reported that meningitis had not been confirmed in the hospitalized inmate. His condition is considered good, and the patient remains in hospital under medical supervision.
The Health Ministry also stressed that reports about allegedly diagnosed meningitis and the panic that supposedly arose at the correctional facility were published before the examination results had been received. Residents were urged to rely only on official information.
