Man saves child swept away by river current
The incident occurred during an excursion when a group of tourists was kayaking and then headed to change to buggies. At that moment, one of the holidaymakers was trying to get ashore when he suddenly heard desperate cries: «Hold the child!».
According to him, it was difficult to spot the girl — the churning water almost completely concealed her. The little girl, who appeared to be just three–four years old, had been by the river with her mother. The woman let go of her hand for a moment, after which the child fell into the fast-flowing current. The current carried the girl around ten metres underwater, and she swallowed a considerable amount of water.
The man immediately rushed to help and managed to pull the child out of the river, effectively saving her life. The rescuer said that the girl was the daughter of a local Turkish family. After the incident, the child's father spent a long time arguing with the mother and blaming her for what had happened, but the parents never thanked the man who pulled the girl from the water.
