Asphalt laying begins on Salamis Road
The second phase of the major reconstruction has started on Ismet Inönü Boulevard (known as Salamis Road) in Famagusta, and workers have begun laying asphalt.
What will change on one of the city’s main streets:
• Infrastructure: the project is not limited to a new road surface. The drainage system will be fully renewed to protect against flooding, and new safe sidewalks for pedestrians will be built.
• Bicycle lanes: dedicated zones will be allocated on the boulevard for two-wheeled transport users.
• Parking: a free parking area for 500 cars will be created for drivers.
Famagusta Mayor Suleyman Uluchay stressed that the municipality’s goal is to turn the busy street into a comfortable, safe and well-planned urban space focused on the long-term improvement of the transport system.
