Beheaded body discovered on Güzelyalı beach
Human remains without a head and most of the limbs were discovered on Güzelyalı beach on June 28, but the news only became known 24 days later.
According to preliminary data, the remains belong to a man. Specialists believe that the body had been in the sea for around two–three months. The torso was covered with marine organisms and biological deposits, indicating a prolonged stay in the water.
The remains are currently undergoing a forensic medical examination. Additional anthropological studies have been ordered to establish the deceased’s age, sex, identity and cause of death.
Officials have not explained why such a high-profile case was not made public for almost a month.
