10 fires occurred in Northern Cyprus within a week

From 3 to 9 August, the fire service responded to 10 fires and 21 other incidents. The total damage caused by the fires amounted to approximately 1.6 million Turkish liras. Four fires were presumably caused by short circuits. Another four were caused by cigarette butts that had not been extinguished. In one case, the cause may have been sparks from electrical wires coming into contact due to the wind, while another fire started after sparks from a work tool ignited dry grass.

Of the 10 fires, three occurred in vehicles and two — in areas covered with dry grass and rubbish. Fires were also reported in crops, stubble, a warehouse, a bale of hay and a residential building. In addition, firefighters responded to 21 other incidents. These included fire prevention work, rescuing cats trapped in car engine compartments and the stairwells of apartment buildings, ensuring road safety, rescuing a sheep and a goat that had fallen into a well, and carrying out special assignments.

The fire service also arranged for deceased individuals to be transported to hospital for forensic procedures as part of investigations.
