Woman detained in Northern Cyprus for sending intimate photos and videos to her ex-boyfriend’s wife
A woman suspected of violating privacy was detained at the Pergamos (Beyarmudu) checkpoint while attempting to enter the TRNC. According to the investigation, in June 2022, during a relationship with her then-boyfriend, she secretly took intimate photos and videos. Later, she sent these materials to his wife via Instagram.
The injured party filed a complaint with the police back in August 2025, but it was not possible to detain the suspect immediately because she was living in South Cyprus. Only on 6 June 2026, when crossing the border, she was taken into custody.
The police seized the suspect’s and the complainant’s mobile phones for forensic examination. During the review, specialists have already found the sent audio recordings and video files. The court extended the detainee’s arrest for another 3 days to complete the investigation.
