Three Arrested in Northern Cyprus for Document Forgery
The police of Northern Cyprus reported two separate incidents related to the forgery of official documents.
The first case occurred on August 12 at 17:30 at Ercan Airport. During border control, 64-year-old R.A.U. and 16-year-old A.A. presented forged documents, made to appear as residence permits in their names, to the police officers. The forgery was detected, and both suspects were detained. An investigation has been launched against them.
The second incident was recorded in the Iskele area. The police determined that 36-year-old O.J., in early August, created two forged bank documents indicating a balance of £1,700 in his account. He sent these documents via WhatsApp to a creditor to whom he owed money, in order to delay debt repayment. In addition, on June 13, he similarly provided his landlord with a forged bank statement showing €2,200 in his account to cover rent payments.
All three suspects have been arrested, and investigative actions are ongoing.
