The 14th State Young Artists Competition in Northern Cyprus will be held again
The Department of Culture operating under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment has decided to relaunch the 14th State Young Artists Competition in the field of contemporary art. According to the ministry, a selection committee meeting was held last Friday at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), where the submitted applications were evaluated.
The jury included Derya Ulubatlı, Emin Çizenel, Esra Plümer Bardak, Mustafa Haştürk, Naz Atun and Seni̇h Çavuşoğlu. The working meeting was also attended by the Director of the Department of Culture, Ayşe Güler Akın, and the head of the Cultural Center, Pervin Aremek Aşıkoglu.
The current results were canceled and the competition announced again because the number of applications and submitted works was too small. In the commission’s view, the current pool of participants does not reflect the real potential of young Turkish Cypriots or the level of development of contemporary art on the island. For this reason, the application procedure has been decided to be organized anew.
