New Pier in Girne Old Harbour to Strengthen Tourism Infrastructure
The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment of the TRNC visited Girne Old Harbour (Kyrenia) on an inspection tour, where work on the construction of a new pier is nearing completion. During the visit, the minister familiarized himself with the current stage of the project, which includes the installation of steel piles, the assembly of connecting beams, and the laying of wooden decking in several stages — from the area of the Zinchir Kale tower to the fishing boat berths and the restaurant area.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction and emphasized that the ancient harbour is a key tourist showcase of the country. The modernization of the facility will significantly increase the port's capacity and create safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing infrastructure for local entrepreneurs and tourists. It was separately noted that the large-scale reconstruction is being carried out in strict accordance with the requirements for preserving the unique historical and cultural heritage of this region.
