Fake passport detected at Ercan Airport
A citizen with a fake Bulgarian passport was detained at Ercan Airport while attempting to leave Northern Cyprus.
According to police, on July 20, during passport control, the man presented a fake Bulgarian passport bearing his own photograph but issued in another person’s name. After receiving information about the forgery from the airline SunExpress, officers detained him at the airport.
During the investigation, it emerged that the suspect had entered Northern Cyprus using the same document on July 17. During questioning, he admitted his guilt.
The court ordered that the detainee remain in custody for three days while the investigation continues and the seized passport undergoes examination.
