Police checked more than 2,600 drivers: 354 violated the rules
During yesterday’s traffic checks across Northern Cyprus, police officers checked 2,641 drivers. As a result of the checks, 354 drivers were held accountable for various traffic violations. 23 vehicles were taken off the road, and two drivers were arrested.
The most common violation was speeding — 143 cases. Another 16 drivers were driving under the influence of alcohol. Cases were also recorded of driving without a licence and insurance, driving without insurance, using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear seat belts and lacking a valid road permit. In addition, police identified dangerous driving, violations of road signs and traffic-light signals, as well as cases of riding motorcycles without protective helmets.
Police continue to carry out checks across Northern Cyprus.
