TRNC police checked 2,397 drivers and fined 354 in one day
Over the past 24 hours, TRNC police checked 2,397 drivers on the roads of Northern Cyprus and issued citations to 354 of them. Thirteen vehicles were taken off the road, and another driver was arrested.

The most common violation was speeding: 115 drivers will face action for it. Another 20 people drove without a road permit, 17 failed to wear seat belts, 11 got behind the wheel while intoxicated, 10 drove without insurance, nine without a valid roadworthiness test, and three had neither a driving licence nor insurance.
Another five citations were issued for ignoring road signs, five for having an exhaust system without a muffler, and one for riding without a protective helmet; 158 drivers were charged under other articles. During the same checks, police also identified three people who were in Northern Cyprus without a residence permit.
