TRNC diplomat served summons in property case in the Republic of Cyprus

According to local media reports, the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus are expanding the circle of people affected by legal proceedings over property transactions. A TRNC diplomat has now been served with a summons.

According to Kıbrıs Postası, TRNC diplomat Yasa Yesilada, who works at the Council of Europe, was served with a court summons while staying in the Republic of Cyprus. The case is reportedly linked to investigations concerning property transactions involving disputed ownership rights.

According to the publication, the attention of the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus is now focused not only on developers, but also on TRNC citizens who bought or sold properties with equivalent title deeds.

It is noted that after receiving the summons, Yesilada sought medical assistance because of deteriorating health and submitted a corresponding medical report to the court. As a result, the hearing was postponed until Tuesday.

A series of similar investigations is continuing, while the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus have previously brought criminal cases against individuals linked to property transactions in Northern Cyprus.
