Protesters greet Guterres with a demonstration in Lefkoşa
A protest took place in Lefkoşa during the visit of UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The demonstration had earlier been called for on social media by a group calling itself “unorganised citizens”.
Participants gathered at the junction by Presidential Park and the Civil Defence roundabout, then held a demonstration along Guterres’s route, carrying the flags of Turkey and the TRNC.
The TMT Veterans Association also announced its participation in the protest. The organisation said the demonstration took place at the roundabout with the Atatürk monument in Ortaköy, as the UN Secretary-General was heading to a meeting with President Tufan Erhürman.
According to the association, its representatives also took part in the demonstration.
