More than 3,000 drivers checked in Northern Cyprus: 480 fines issued
Police in Northern Cyprus have summed up large-scale road checks carried out across the country.
In total, officers checked 3,073 drivers. As a result of the raids, measures were taken against 480 people for traffic violations. In addition, 59 vehicles were taken out of service, and one driver was detained.
Drivers were most often fined for:
- speeding — 198 cases;
- not wearing a seat belt — 66;
- missing vehicle registration document (seyru-sefer) — 54;
- driving under the influence of alcohol — 17;
- no insurance — 15;
- no technical inspection — 9;
- driving without a licence and insurance — 5;
- using a mobile phone while driving — 2;
- other violations — 114.
