Inspection of 90 Turkish Cypriot buildings has begun in Larnaca

Authorities in Larnaca have begun inspecting 90 buildings that are allegedly part of Turkish Cypriot property in order to determine whether they pose a threat to public safety.

The inspection is being carried out by the Larnaca District Local Government Organisation (EOA). Its results will determine whether the properties meet the criteria for being declared dangerous under current legislation.

According to Haravgi, an official letter has been sent to the Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service under the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus, asking it to confirm whether the 90 buildings in question are under its management.

In addition, the department was urged to take the necessary measures within its powers if the buildings pose a threat to residents or neighbouring properties.

Larnaca authorities also requested information on any measures already taken or planned to prevent possible risks and ensure public safety.
