In Turkey’s Sakarya province, an incident occurred that both surprised and amused local residents. 63-year-old Ali Çabuk, during a morning walk with his wife and grandson, discovered a drone washed ashore on the Black Sea coast. Instead of immediately reporting the find to the emergency services, the man decided to first ask artificial intelligence for advice.

Ali photographed the drone and uploaded the image to an AI app. According to him, the service replied that the device was allegedly from Russia and that the photo showed no signs of an explosive device. After that, the man, together with his wife and grandson, loaded the find, which weighed about 15–20 kilograms, into the trunk of an SUV and took it home.

Çabuk later said that he had long collected items washed ashore by the sea.

“I wasn’t afraid because all kinds of debris are constantly being washed up on the beach. I kept telling myself that one day I would find something like this. And that day came.”

What interested the man most was the twin-cylinder engine installed on the drone.

“It had a great twin-cylinder engine. I tinkered with it a little. I only worked on the engine and didn’t touch the front section at all.”

According to Ali, he even considered adapting the engine for household needs, for example using it in a garden irrigation system.

The find was soon reported to the village headman, after which gendarmerie officers and bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene. Specialists examined the device and confirmed that it contained no explosives. Because of its large size, the drone would not fit in the service vehicle, so Çabuk helped transport it to the gendarmerie station in his own car.

The device is now being examined by Turkish specialists, who are expected to determine its origin and purpose.

The fisherman himself admitted that only after speaking with the bomb disposal experts did he realize how dangerous his actions could have been.

“Now I understand that it was very risky. I won’t do that again — I’ll report it to the gendarmerie immediately.”
