Since the Beginning of the Year, Nearly 87 Million Lira from Sea Ports Contributed to the TRNC Budget

In the first five months of the year, the sea ports of Famagusta and Kyrenia contributed 86,913,365 Turkish lira to the TRNC state treasury.

According to statistical data from the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation for the period from January to May 2024, the majority of collections were made at the Port of Famagusta. The country's primary maritime gateway generated 68,851,022 Turkish lira for the budget. Contributions from the Port of Kyrenia were more modest, amounting to 18,062,343 Turkish lira. Another port, Gemykonagi, did not generate any revenue, as it has not been used since 1974 despite being listed as a sea harbor.

Almost half of all revenues come from "Port and Ship Charges," which brought in 41,862,415 Turkish lira. This is followed by "Deposit and Special Crane" — 12,477,229 Turkish lira, and "Other Port Revenues" — 10,420,959 Turkish lira.

Additionally, the revenues from passenger transport at the sea ports amounted to 8,104,733 Turkish lira.
