Driver Who Fled the Scene of Fatal Crash Detained
The driver who fled after a fatal crash on the Boğazköy — Gönyeli road has been detained in the Pınarbaşı area.
According to police, the driver of vehicle MP 773, identified after the crash that claimed the life of 39-year-old Hasan Düzgen and left another pedestrian seriously injured, has been detained.
It was previously reported that the vehicle lost control on a bend in the Kamacı Garaj area, left the road and crashed into parked cars before hitting two pedestrians. After the crash, the driver fled the scene on foot.
According to local residents, the suspect was found at one of the farms in the Pınarbaşı area. They said a brief pursuit took place before the detention.
Police said the detainee is I.T., 26. Officers from the Kyrenia police, the fire service and the Special Operations Unit took part in the search operation.
The investigation is continuing.
