TRNC national team becomes CONIFA EURO champion for the first time
The Northern Cyprus national team (TRNC) won the title of European football champions among unrecognized states (CONIFA EURO 2026) for the first time in its history, crushing the Padania national team 6:1 in the final. The match took place at the Karata Stadium in Italy.
Despite the fact that Padania opened the scoring and took a 1:0 lead, the TRNC national team staged a spectacular comeback. The hero of the match was Erhun Öztümer, who scored 4 goals. Batuhan Chalman set the final score in added time (90+1 minute). Earlier, the Northern Cyprus national team had reached the final of this tournament twice, but managed to win the trophy for the first time only now.
