Seven people detained in Northern Cyprus in cases involving drugs, weapons and fights

Police conducted operations in Dikmen, Famagusta, Haspolat and İskele

Police carried out checks and intervened in several incidents related to drugs, illegal weapons, fights and disturbances of public order in different areas of Northern Cyprus. A total of seven people were detained.

In Dikmen, officers from the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Department searched the home of 55-year-old M.K. During the operation, they found paper packets containing a substance suspected to be a synthetic cannabinoid, as well as hand-rolled cigarettes with burnt ends.

M.K. was detained, and the investigation is continuing.

In Famagusta, police found an unregistered pistol and 30 live rounds of various calibres during a search of the home of 28-year-old B.O.

The man was detained, and the seized weapon and ammunition were handed over as evidence.

A fight broke out near one of the businesses in the Haspolat industrial zone. According to police, 48-year-old B.G. waved a metal pipe at three men — 37-year-old S.G., 42-year-old H.O. and 27-year-old A.E.

After that, the participants began striking one another and disturbing public order. Four people were detained in connection with the case.

In İskele, 22-year-old U.E. was held accountable following an incident on the public promenade. According to police, the man was intoxicated, shouted loudly and disturbed those around him.

Investigations into all the cases are continuing.
