Ercan Airport employee brought before court over found bank card
Ercan Airport employee M.E.K. appeared in court, accused of unlawfully appropriating a found bank card.
According to police, on May 21 an employee of one of the airport businesses found a bank card on the terminal premises that had been lost by its owner. Instead of handing the find over to the police or the lost property office, he took it home.
Investigators found that on June 29 the suspect’s roommate used the card and paid for purchases with it. After a complaint was filed with the police, law enforcement detained M.E.K. and launched an investigation.
The investigation into the case of appropriating the found card has been completed. At the same time, police are investigating the actions of the roommate who used someone else’s bank card.
The court released M.E.K. on bail. He is prohibited from leaving Northern Cyprus, must report to the police once a week, post bail in the amount of 30,000 Turkish lira and provide a guarantor with a commitment of 800,000 Turkish lira.
