Two Night-Time Crashes in the TRNC: Driver with 120 mg of Alcohol Arrested, Another Taken to Hospital
Two separate road accidents occurred in Northern Cyprus last night — in Kyrenia and on the main Ercan — İskele highway. One driver was arrested for driving under the influence, while the other was taken to hospital with injuries.
The first accident occurred at around 23:10 on Canbolat Sokak in Kyrenia. According to police, 27-year-old Furkan Konca was driving a vehicle with the registration number MV 008 under the influence of alcohol: the test showed 120 mg. He collided with the rear of a ZS 098 vehicle driven by 28-year-old Sena Kutgi. No one was injured, but the driver was arrested.
Approximately twenty minutes later, at around 23:30, the second accident occurred on the main Ercan — İskele highway, near the Karavezirler petrol station. 35-year-old Dominic Agwa Gbuga lost control of the KL 412 vehicle: it veered to the left, hit an embankment of earth and gravel, and overturned.
The scattered stones damaged three vehicles at the SSY Motors dealership. The driver was injured, taken to Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, and kept under observation.
TRNC police are investigating both incidents.
