TRNC Meteorological Department: temperatures will drop by 5 degrees by the weekend, with thunderstorms and heavy rain on Saturday

The TRNC Meteorological Department has published a forecast for the period from August 27 to September 2: hot weather will persist in Northern Cyprus until the end of the working week, while temperatures will fall by around 5 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Forecasters expect heavy rain, with thunderstorms in some areas, on Saturday.

According to the department, until Friday the region will remain under the influence of a hot and relatively humid air mass, which will be replaced by a cooler and more humid one at the weekend. Today will be partly cloudy, with fog in some areas during the morning hours. Friday will be clear and mostly sunny, with partly cloudy skies developing in the eastern districts by evening. Saturday will be cloudy, with heavy rain and thunderstorms, while Sunday will be clear, with partly cloudy skies in inland areas around midday.

Maximum temperatures in inland areas will reach 37–40 degrees during the first days of the period and 32–35 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Along the coast, temperatures will remain at 32–35 degrees throughout the period. Winds will be strong at the weekend.
