Directors of the TRNC Meteorology Department and Postal Department removed from office

The directors of the TRNC Meteorology Department and Postal Department have been removed from office. The decision was published in the Official Gazette (Resmi Gazete) on September 7, with the dismissals and new appointments taking effect on September 8.

Meteorology Department Director Sinan Güneş was relieved of his post effective September 8. Mediha Orun Sarp was appointed to replace him as of the same date.

At the same time, Postal Department Director Yakup İskender was removed from office. İlknur Ertayfur Topal will head the department from September 8.

The decree did not specify the reasons for the personnel changes.

Sinan Güneş, who had held the position for around two years and nine months, published a farewell message on his last working day. He thanked the minister, deputy minister, ministry staff, representatives of institutions and the private sector, as well as his colleagues at the department. According to him, the department had made significant progress over those years, and this was the achievement of the entire team, not just one person.

“Positions come and go; what matters is to leave behind good deeds, positive traces and good people,” Güneş wrote.
