The 2026–2027 school year has officially begun in Northern Cyprus. The school bell rang at TRNC secondary schools and vocational high schools on 15 September, while primary school students started classes the day before, on 14 September. Around 59,000 students have taken their seats, with 6,500 teachers working with them in 196 schools.

Of these 196 educational institutions, 132 belong to the primary level: 110 state schools and 22 private schools. General secondary education is provided by 50 schools, including 38 state and 12 private schools. Another 14 schools are vocational and technical.

Around 28,000 children attend primary schools, 25,600 attend secondary schools, and 4,200 attend vocational and technical schools. Approximately 900 more people are enrolled in adult education programmes.

The first semester at both primary and secondary schools will end on 29 January 2027, when report cards will be issued.

The academic calendar also set the dates for entrance examinations. The exam for admission to colleges (KGS) will be held on 30 January and 5 June 2027, placement in Anatolian and science high schools will take place on 19 June, and entrance examinations for the Fine Arts High School in Lefkoşa will be held from 23 to 25 June 2027.
