Turkey and Poland Aim to Deepen Strategic Partnership and Expand Trade

On June 23, 2026, an official meeting and joint press conference were held in Ankara by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Polish President Karol Nawrocki. During the talks, the sides confirmed their intention to develop bilateral relations in the fields of security, defense industry, energy and the economy.

Economic cooperation and new trade targets:
— Trade turnover growth. The leaders recorded the successful achievement of the previous benchmark for mutual trade of $10 billion. Against the backdrop of this dynamic, a new long-term goal was approved — to increase bilateral trade turnover to $15 billion.
— Construction sector. Poland remains one of the key markets for Turkish contracting companies. The total value of investment and infrastructure projects implemented by Turkish companies on Polish territory currently amounts to about $9 billion.
— Transport integration. The sides highlighted transport infrastructure as a promising area for joint projects. The «Three Seas Initiative», in which Turkey participates as a strategic partner, was named an important platform for this.

Cooperation in the defense sphere and the track toward EU integration:
— Defense industry complex. The development of cooperation within NATO was identified as one of the main priorities. The presidents recalled the successful implementation of previous contracts, including deliveries of Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the needs of the Polish army, and agreed to coordinate new projects.
— Dialogue with Brussels. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed Ankara’s desire to develop a constructive partnership with the European Union on the basis of mutual respect and benefit. He expressed official gratitude to Warsaw for its consistent support for Turkey’s EU integration process.

Regional security and preparation for the NATO summit:
— International agenda. As part of the talks, the sides discussed in detail the situation surrounding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the state of affairs in Iran, and also emphasized the importance of achieving a sustainable settlement in the Middle East based on the principle of a two-state solution (Turkey expects Poland to continue supporting Palestine).
— Summit in Ankara. The leaders discussed the key tasks of the upcoming NATO summit, which will take place in the Turkish capital on July 7–8. A common priority was named as strengthening the alliance’s European defense potential and reinforcing transatlantic ties by increasing the responsibility of European allies.
