Türkiye Updates Military Readiness for the Security of the TRNC

Türkiye’s Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler said that developments in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean are being closely monitored, while military readiness to ensure the security of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is regularly updated.

The statement came in response to a written query from Hasan Öztürkmen, a member of the Turkish parliament from the CHP. Türkiye’s Defence Minister also commented on changes in NATO’s security system, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and Israel’s activities in the region.

Güler noted that Türkiye analyses all developments in Cyprus, including Israel’s activities in South Cyprus, and continues to take the necessary military and political measures in response to potential threats.

«Given the sensitive balance on the island, our military readiness to ensure the security of Türkiye and the TRNC is being carefully updated,» the minister said.

He also said that Türkiye continues to coordinate with the Syrian authorities to preserve the country’s territorial integrity and regional stability, while Israel’s actions in southern Syria and other developments that could affect Türkiye’s security are under constant observation.
