Live-fire exercises near Sadrazamköy to take place from 7 to 11 September

The “Şehit Yüzbaşı Cengiz Topel — Mediterranean Storm” live-fire exercises (CTAF-2026) will take place in Northern Cyprus from 7 to 11 September at the training ground near the village of Sadrazamköy. This was announced by the Güzelyurt District Administration.

Preparations, rehearsals and test firing will begin earlier: they will take place from 07:00 on 31 August until 19:00 on 11 September. For the entire period, the training ground will be declared a danger zone.

The administration asks people, children, vehicles and shepherds with their flocks not to enter the zone. No sowing work may be carried out in the area until 12 September, and water-tanker trailers and other equipment must be removed from cultivated plots so that they do not obstruct helicopters during take-off and landing.

After the exercises end, entering the zone will also remain prohibited until a separate announcement confirms that access is permitted. If unexploded ordnance is found in the area, it must not be touched: the discovery should be reported to the police and security forces.

The administration described the boundaries of the danger zone as follows: to the west, the coast near Koruçam Cape (Koruçam Burnu); to the east, the western line of the road between the asphalt road west of Sadrazamköy and the tourist settlement; to the north, the coastline from the antenna and lighthouse to the tourist settlement, as well as 10 km of sea area; and to the south, the section between Sadrazamköy and the northern side of the road leading towards the sea in a westerly direction.
