Large-scale import of counterfeit goods stopped at Ercan Airport
Officers of the Ercan Customs Department at Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus conducted routine inspections during which they uncovered a large quantity of undeclared goods. All of the illegally imported items were distributed across 12 suitcases and 3 backpacks belonging to the violators.
During the baggage inspection, customs officers found a large number of bags, shoes, textile products, watches and various other items. The owners of the cargo had not included these items in the customs declaration when passing through control.
An official case was opened against the persons who violated the applicable customs regulations. As a result of the proceedings, fines were imposed on the offenders, with the total amount reaching 11 thousand US dollars.
