In Alayköy, 49-year-old woman went to the police herself after killing her husband
49-year-old E.T., suspected of killing her husband in Alayköy, went to the Lefkoşa police station and surrendered herself. According to the police, the woman went to the Lefkoşa police station after the incident. She was arrested, after which an investigation was launched on suspicion of intentional homicide.
The crime took place on 22 August at around 22:30 in the bedroom of the woman’s home. According to the investigation, E.T. took a folding knife with a total length of 25 centimetres from the kitchen and stabbed her sleeping husband, Cumali İsmail Taşdemir, several times in the neck, lower back and back.
The victim’s body was taken to the morgue of Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkoşa for an autopsy. The police reported that the woman had previously received psychological treatment and was taking medication. During questioning, she claimed that her husband had tried to fraudulently transfer property belonging to her into his own name.
At the court hearing, E.T. said: «This would not have happened if he had not deceived us».
The court ordered that the woman remain in police custody for three days to allow the investigation to continue. She is also to be examined by doctors at the Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital
