Road traffic improvement works continue in Famagusta

The Famagusta Municipality continues work במסגרת the General Traffic Management Plan. The aim — is to organise traffic and improve pedestrian safety.

According to the municipality, needs in various parts of the city are identified during on-site inspections by Traffic Commission Chair Mine Karadzhoy, traffic consultant Can Kara and commission members. The necessary works are then carried out in stages in accordance with the General Plan.

Work to improve traffic organisation and safety has been carried out on Üç Çakırlar Street. In the Altıok area, an intersection was redesigned to take existing traffic needs into account. Road markings were renewed at the north-eastern intersection of Eastern Mediterranean University to improve the safety of entry and exit. On İnanç Street in the Harika area, previously undefined road connections were marked and right-of-way order was established at the five-road intersection. Work continues on Savaş Street in the Sakarya area to address a long-standing traffic and parking problem.

Traffic Commission Chair Mine Karaca said that the needs of different parts of the city are identified directly on site and addressed systematically. According to her, the commission’s decisions are implemented in stages in accordance with the General Plan.

She stressed that the work is not limited to individual areas: needs across the entire city are assessed with consideration given to safety, intensity of use and priority. New projects will also be implemented in accordance with the approved programme.
