Motorcyclist seriously injured in accident on Girne bypass road
At a session of the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), proposals related to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were discussed.
A road accident occurred on the Girne — Alsancak bypass road, leaving the 43-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 23:30. Nineteen-year-old Ali Arda Kızıl was driving a vehicle with registration number GJ 440 out of the car park near Çangar Plaza onto the bypass road when he blocked the path of a motorcycle with registration number SD 325, ridden by Mete Faruk Borudju.
Following the collision, the motorcycle was thrown towards the central traffic island, while the car crashed into the metal barrier on the left side of the road.
The injured motorcyclist was taken to Nicosia State Hospital named after Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu and was subsequently transferred to Near East University Hospital. Following surgery, he remains under observation in the intensive care unit.
Car driver Ali Arda Kızıl was arrested. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
