First vascular surgery operation performed at Famagusta State Hospital

At Famagusta State Hospital, the first vascular surgery operation was successfully performed. After the procedure, Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek visited the patient and said it was an important milestone in the development of medical care in the region.

According to the minister, angiography had previously begun to be carried out in the hospital’s cardiology department, and to date 110 such procedures have already been successfully completed. The medical institution has now expanded its capabilities by performing its first operation to restore blood flow in peripheral vascular disease.

The patient said he had been transferred to Famagusta State Hospital from Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia due to heavy workloads and was satisfied with the quality of care provided.

The minister said this was only the beginning: in the future, the hospital plans to gradually introduce the full range of cardiovascular surgery operations.

Vascular surgeon Dr. Mehmet Arıkbuka clarified that the patient underwent a femoropopliteal bypass operation using both synthetic and own vessels. According to him, the procedure was successful, and the hospital team is ready for the further development of this field.
