Pesticide violations found in imported grapes and leafy greens
The Agriculture Department of Northern Cyprus has published the results of its weekly food quality control inspection for the period from 24 to 30 July.
Only one of the 54 imported product samples tested failed the inspection. An excessive level of plant protection products was detected in a shipment of black grapes imported by REE Tic. All the grapes were destroyed.
Among 18 samples of local produce, violations were found in the leafy greens molokhia, grown by farmer Fatma Dedeoğlu in Famagusta. A plant protection product not recommended for this crop was detected in the plant. The harvest was also destroyed.
The remaining imported and local product samples were deemed safe.
