A lavender field created by a local entrepreneur opens in Karpas
Ayşegül Bolat, a resident of Karpas, turned her dream into reality by creating a lavender field, inspired by the famous plantations of Turkey's Isparta.
Five years ago, she received a grant under the programme of the Office for Development and Economic Cooperation of the Embassy of Turkey in Nicosia and established a lavender plantation on four dönüms of land.
Over time, the entrepreneur expanded the project. Today, from the lavender she grows, she produces 12 types of products, including soap, cologne, vinegar and lavender lemonade, which is popular with both locals and tourists.
The lavender field has also become a local attraction — people come here to take photos and buy natural products.
According to Ayşegül Bolat, she plans to expand her product range in the future and believes that women’s entrepreneurship needs further support.
