Security officers at the New Central Prison in Minareliköy foiled an attempt to bring prohibited substances into the secured facility. During the inspection of personal belongings and clothing intended for one of the inmates, a hidden package containing drugs was found in the collar of a sports jacket.
The suspect, the 65-year-old father of the inmate, was detained at the scene by officers from the narcotics division. The man was taken to the Lefkoşa court, where he was remanded in custody for 3 days to allow an investigation to be conducted.
