Roads in Nicosia to be closed on Sunday due to parade rehearsal
Police have warned of a temporary traffic restriction in Nicosia on Sunday due to a rehearsal for events marking the 52nd anniversary of Peace and Freedom Day, which is observed on July 20.
From 07:00 until the end of the rehearsal, the road section between the Honda intersection, the Altınbaş Petrol intersection and the Gönyeli roundabout will be closed.
Detour routes will be arranged for motorists. Drivers heading to the industrial zone will be able to pass through the Altınbaş Petrol intersection. Traffic toward Near East University will be routed via Nicosia’s Northern Ring Road and Yakın Doğu Boulevard.
For trips to the city center from Famagusta, it is recommended to use the Hamitköy junction or the turn at the Honda intersection. Toward Güzelyurt, traffic will be able to pass via the Northern Ring Road, the Gönyeli roundabout or the Metehan — Alayköy bypass road.
Police are urging drivers to plan their route in advance, exercise caution, and follow road signs and the instructions of traffic officers.
