Truck driver who took $3,000 helped illegally smuggle a person out of Northern Cyprus
A 52-year-old truck driver has been detained in Northern Cyprus on suspicion of organizing the illegal departure of a person from the island.
According to police, on July 9 at the port of Famagusta, the man, who had arrived by ferry from Mersin for unloading, hid a person inside his truck for a payment of $3,000. This allowed the person to board the vessel and leave Northern Cyprus without going through immigration control.
The suspect was detained on July 10 in Famagusta. The investigation is continuing
