Driver Who Hit a Child on a Bicycle in Nicosia Released

The driver detained after a traffic accident involving a child on a bicycle in Nicosia has been released without a further court appearance. The decision was made after the results of a repeat medical examination of the injured child were received.

Initially, an X-ray indicated a possible fracture, which led to the driver’s detention, and the court granted police additional time to continue the investigation. However, the repeat examination confirmed that the child had no fractures or other injuries.

According to the investigation, the false result of the first X-ray was due to the fact that the child could not remain still during the examination.

As a reminder, the accident occurred on June 30 on Taflan Street in Nicosia. According to police, the child suddenly rode a bicycle onto the roadway from behind parked cars, where he collided with a passenger car.

The investigation also confirmed that the child suddenly entered the road and that his health is not in danger. In light of this, the driver was released.
