Entries to Northern Cyprus fell by 13.3%.

In January–June 2026, 146,096 third-country nationals entered Northern Cyprus by air and sea. During the same period in 2025, there were 158,360 such entries. The decrease amounted to 7.7%.

In the first six months of 2026, 1,829,954 foreigners entered Northern Cyprus through land checkpoints. A year earlier, the figure was 2,121,216. The decrease amounted to 13.7%.

Taking both entry methods into account, the total number of arrivals fell from 2,279,576 in the first half of 2025 to 1,976,050 during the same period of 2026. This is 303,526 people, or approximately 13.3%, fewer.

By air and sea, the number of arrivals from Germany increased the most—from 16,453 to 22,063, or by 34.1%. Germany became the country from which the largest number of passengers arrived in Northern Cyprus by this method in the first half of 2026.

The number of arrivals from Austria increased by 103.9%, from Nepal by 114.3%, from Indonesia by 44.2%, from Taiwan by 71.4%, and from Kenya by 41.6%.

At the same time, the number of arrivals from France fell significantly—by 79.3%, from Belgium by 78.8%, from Croatia by 76.3%, and from Slovenia by 64.9%. The number of arrivals from Iran fell by 42.3%—from 15,567 to 8,985.

Russia retained a high number of entries by air and sea—19,743 people, although this was 2.5% lower than in the first half of 2025. A total of 9,546 people arrived from the United Kingdom, 13% fewer than a year earlier.

Most land-crossing entries continue to come from Southern Cyprus. In the first six months of 2026, 1,024,706 people entered Northern Cyprus from Southern Cyprus, compared with 1,227,168 during the same period last year. The decrease amounted to 202,462 people, or 16.5%.

The number of entries from the United Kingdom also fell—by 16.2%, to 95,695 people; from Greece—by 17.3%, to 90,018; and from Russia—by 19.6%, to 19,106 people.

At the same time, the number of entries from Germany increased by 5.2%, to 70,035 people; from Poland by 5%, to 69,772; and from Austria by 31.7%, to 10,069 people.

The largest relative increase among land entries was recorded for Nigeria—166.2%; however, in absolute terms, this amounted to just 181 entries, compared with 68 a year earlier.

Overall, in the first six months of 2026, 1,976,050 people entered Northern Cyprus by air, sea and through land checkpoints. During the same period last year, the figure was 2,279,576.
