An Exhibition Space Opens in the Old Customs Building of Kyrenia’s Ancient Harbour (copy)
A new exhibition space dedicated to the history and past of the port has opened in the old customs building at Kyrenia’s Ancient Harbour.
The exhibition opening took place the previous day as part of a formal ceremony. The event was attended by the fifth President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar; Fikri Ataoğlu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment; as well as representatives of political circles.
The exhibition features photographs of Kyrenia’s Ancient Harbour from different periods, as well as materials telling the story of the site’s history and development.
Ersin Tatar noted that the Ancient Harbour is an important part of the historical and cultural heritage, stressing the importance of preserving such sites for future generations. He also congratulated everyone involved in implementing the project.
Fikri Ataoğlu said that the renovation of the harbour was the result of long-term work and expressed his gratitude to everyone who took part in the project. According to him, the new space will allow residents and tourists to learn more about the history of Kyrenia.
Serhat Akpınar, a representative of the Democratic Party and a member of parliament, noted that following its restoration, the historic building had become one of the important sites of the Ancient Harbour and a new attraction for visitors.
