Due to the continuing extreme heat in Northern Cyprus, the ban on outdoor work from 12:00 to 16:00 has been extended. The restriction will be in effect from 17 to 23 August inclusive.

Minister of Labour and Social Protection Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said the decision was made based on the latest data from the Meteorological Department indicating continued high and extremely high temperatures.

The ban applies to all workers engaged in outdoor activities — from construction workers, municipal employees and road and infrastructure service staff to agricultural workers, cleaners, technical personnel and journalists working outdoors.

Hasipoğlu stressed that the decision takes into account not the sector in which a person works, but the fact that they are working outdoors in conditions of extreme heat.

During the period of the ban, inspectors from the Labour Department will continue workplace inspections. The minister urged employers to strictly comply with the restriction from 17 to 23 August and take all necessary occupational safety measures.

Violations can be reported by calling Alo 102, via WhatsApp at 0539 109 50 50, or through the official accounts of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. When reporting, it is recommended to provide information about the workplace and its location and, where possible, attach photos or videos.
