(Kıb-Tek) has announced a scheduled power outage in the capital and its surrounding areas on Friday, June 12. Restrictions will be introduced at the end of the working day — between 16:00 and 17:00. The temporary inconvenience is due to technical work to commission a new transformer and modernize the medium-voltage distribution networks.
This outage will affect a very wide range of central districts, government buildings and social facilities. The list includes the Nicosia industrial zone, Taşkınköy, the areas of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Court of Accounts, the streets between the Ortaköy traffic lights and Kumsal Park, the Ministry of Finance, the TRNC Parliament, the Embassy of Turkey, judicial bodies, the Ledra Palace area, Hamitköy, Dumlupınar, the campus of Near East University (YDÜ), the General Directorate of Police, the Nicosia Municipality, Surlariçi, Golden Tulip Hotel, the Alayköy industrial zone, part of Gönyeli (including the municipality building area) and Necat British School.
Kıb-Tek management has called on residents, public institutions and owners of commercial enterprises in the specified sectors to take all necessary precautions. Consumers are strongly advised to switch off sensitive electrical appliances in advance, and to remember that power may be restored slightly earlier or later than the stated time depending on the actual progress of the installation works.
