“Cassandra” with Fanny Ardant

“Cassandra” is an opera monologue for an actress and symphony orchestra. The production will take place with the participation of the Commandaria Symphony Orchestra at the Pattihio Municipal Theatre in Limassol. Jean Deroyer will conduct; 18 musicians are taking part in the performance.

The performance is based on the novella “Cassandra” by German writer Christa Wolf, published in 1983. In 1994, Swiss composer Michael Jarrell created a monodrama for actress and ensemble based on this text. Fanny Ardant performs the role of Cassandra.

The action unfolds as the heroine’s inner monologue before her death, bringing together memory, loss and prophecy. The performance lasts 70 minutes without an interval. It is performed in French with English, Greek and Russian subtitles. The event is part of the CITF “SHE IS HERE” season, dedicated to the independent female voice on stage.
